Pork Chops with Garlic and Wine

I really like this pork chop recipe from Ree Drummond of The Pioneer Woman. It is very delicious and easy to make. The pork chops are moist and the sauce is flavorful. If you're looking for easy and elegant meal, this dish would be it.

Pork Chops with Garlic and Wine
Makes 4 servings

Ingredients:

18 whole peeled garlic cloves
2 tablespoons olive oil
kosher salt and black pepper to taste
6 whole pork chops (medium- to thin-cut)
2 tablespoons butter
1 tablespoon butter (additional)
1 1/2 cups red wine
1 whole bay leaf
salt and pepper to taste
1/2 cup beef broth, more if needed
1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
chopped chives, for garnish

Directions:

Heat oil and butter in a heavy skillet over high heat. Salt and pepper both sides of the pork chops and sear them on both sides until they're nice and golden, about 2 minutes per side. (No need to completely cook the chops at this point). Remove the pork chops from the skillet and set aside.
Reduce the heat to medium-high, then throw in the whole garlic cloves. Stir them around and cook them for several minutes, or until they get nice and golden brown.
Pour in the red wine, then add the baby leaf. Stir around and let it reduce, raising the heat if necessary. Cook the sauce for several minutes, or until it's nice and reduced and thick.
Stir in the beef broth (you can add more if it needs the liquid) and add the pork chops back into the cooking liquid, arranging them so that they're swimming in the sauce. Allow the pork chops to cook in the liquid for a few minutes, then pour in the balsamic. Shake the pan to get it to distribute, then cook for a couple more minutes, or until the pork chops are done.
Remove the pork chops from the pan once more, then let the sauce reduce a little more if needed until it's very thick and rich and the garlic is soft. Swirl in 1 tablespoon of butter and sprinkle in a little salt and pepper. Arrange pork chops on a platter, then pour the whole skillet of sauce (including garlic) over the top.
Serve with mashed potato and salad or veggies.

Note: For this post I used thin-cut pork chops. Depending on the thickness of the pork chop you use, adjust the cooking time accordingly. Over cooking the pork chop will make the meat tough.

Pork Schnitzels

This German dish is very simple to make and simply yummy! For this recipe you only need pork, flour, bread crumbs, and eggs and you have a delicious meal to serve for yourself and for your family.

PORK SCHNITZELS
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 18 minutes
Serves: 10

INGREDIENTS:

10  pork chops boneless
2 large eggs
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup bread crumbs
salt and pepper, to taste
vegetable oil for frying

DIRECTIONS:

1. Pound each pork chop until just 1/4 inch thick with the flat side of a meat tenderizer. Lightly season both sides with salt and freshly ground black pepper. (I used thin sliced pork chops so I did not have to pound them).

2. Heat the oil in a large skillet on medium high heat.

3. Place the flour mixture, egg, and breadcrumbs in 3 separate shallow bowls. Dip the chops in the flour, the egg, and then bread crumbs, coating both sides.

4. Make sure the cooking oil is hot enough at this point.

Orange Baked Ham

This is my new "Go-to" for any ham that comes into the house. The recipe is from Ina Garten of Food Network's Barefoot Contessa. I made it for the first time yesterday for our family's Easter Sunday dinner and let me tell you: This was the best glaze I have made for a ham, ever! I could not believe how easy and amazing this recipe was. I followed it to a T and it came out very delicious. It was an instant homerun with the family.  The ham was moist and flavored well, the glaze browned the sides perfectly and it smelled wonderful while it was baking. I wouldn't change the recipe a bit because it is already a winner as it is.

This is one of those recipes that after you've had it once, you crave it again and again. I just had this but as early as now I am already looking forward to making this for this year's Thanksgiving and Christmas. Believe me guys, this delicious recipe will never fail!

ORANGE BAKED HAM
Total Time: 1 hour 15 minutes
Serving: 35 servings for dinner, 50 servings for cocktails

1 (14 to 16-pound) fully cooked, spiral-cut smoked ham on the bone

1/2 cup Dijon mustard
1 cup light brown sugar, packed
1 orange, zested
1/4 cup freshly squeezed orange juice

DIRECTIONS:

2. Mince the garlic in a food processor fitted with steel blade.

Pork Chops with Apples and Garlic Smashed Potatoes

It's my first time making this dish. It is easy to make and all the flavors are great. I love how the apple-onion combo compliment the pork chops and the mashed potatoes are also good. My husband and kids raved about it; everyone was contently full. This recipe is a new household favorite!

PORK CHOPS WITH APPLES AND GARLIC SMASHED POTATOES

INGREDIENTS:

1 pound small fingerling potatoes
2 cloves garlic
Kosher salt
4 1/2-inch-thick boneless pork loin chops(5 ounces each)
2 teaspoons chopped fresh sage
Freshly ground pepper
1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
1 large red onion, cut into 1/2-inch wedges
2 Granny Smith apples, cut into 1/2-inch pieces
1/4 cup apple cider
1/4 cup buttermilk

DIRECTIONS:

Put the potatoes and garlic in a saucepan, cover with cold water and season with salt. Cover and bring to a boil, then uncover and continue cooking until tender, about 15 minutes. Cover and set aside.

Meanwhile, rub both sides of the pork chops with the sage, salt and pepper to taste. Heat a large cast-iron skillet over high heat, then add 1 teaspoon olive oil and sear the chops until golden on both sides, about 5 minutes total.

Grilled Pineapple Pork Chops

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

I first found this recipe from Six Sisters Stuff website when looking for something to try on the grill. It looked interesting so I gave it a try. My family really loved this dish. The chops were tender and juicy and I loved the grilled pineapple touch. Give this recipe a try. It is easy, quick and delicious!

GRILLED PINEAPPLE PORK CHOPS
Prep Time 8 hours
Cook Time 15 minutes
Serves 6

INGREDIENTS:

20 ounces pineapple rings, reserve juice
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
4-6 pork chops

DIRECTIONS:

1. Mix together the pineapple juice (reserved from the can of pineapple rings), brown sugar, soy sauce, and garlic powder together in a gallon-sized resealable plastic bag until all the sugar is dissolved. Add the pork chops and zip closed. Store in the fridge for 8-12 hours (the longer, the better!)

2. When ready to cook, preheat grill to medium-high heat. Remove chops from bag and place on grill. Brush pork chops with marinade while they are cooking to let the flavor really soak in.

3. Grill until pork chops are browned and no longer pink inside (about 6-8 minutes per side-depending on thickness of chops).

4. While chops are cooking, place pineapple rings on grill and cook until they are warmed through and have slight grill marks on them. Serve pork chops with grilled pineapple on top.
